OPPO Unveils F1s Limited, Alden Richards as New Endorser

The guessing game is finally over. After several days of waiting and speculation on social media, mobile technology brand OPPO finally unveiled the ‘new face of the selfie expert’—the special edition F1s Limited that sports a metallic grey color.

But the F1s Limited is not only OPPO’s new face. The smartphone brand also confirmed today that Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards is joining the OPPO family as one of its new brand ambassadors.

Richards is the other half of the phenomenal power couple AlDub, who stars in a segment of long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga. The love team generated a record-breaking number of tweets last March in one of their episodes, a feat recognized by the Guinness World Records during the tenth anniversary of micro-blogging site Twitter.

The selfie expert

Nicknamed the ‘selfie expert’, the OPPO F1s has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera that can snap bright selfies even in dim light thanks to its large aperture. It also helps users achieve a flawless look through its upgraded beautifying app, Beautify 4.0.

Apart from static selfies, the F1s can create moving images using its Super GIF feature, as well as double-exposure shots that juxtapose two images in one photo to create a sense of motion.

Lightning-fast fingerprint recognition also unlocks the phone in 0.22 seconds. Five fingerprints can be assigned to five contacts or applications for quick access.

The F1s is currently available in gold and rose gold. Concept and dealer stores nationwide will take pre-orders of F1s Limited starting today until November 11. Indonesian talent sweep awards at Singtel Group’s “The 5-Min Video Challenge”

Singapore – Indonesian talent swept the awards at Singtel Group’s “The 5-Min Video Challenge” Regional Finals in Singapore last evening. Chick Chick directed by Mr Kevin Anderson beat a host of entries to be named the Grand Winner while Sowan by Mr Destian Rendra was the runner-up.

Chick Chick tells the story of a young girl who befriends a chicken. Her attempts to communicate with the chicken, inspires her to try and reconnect her fighting parents with a tin-can phone. As the grand winner, Mr Anderson received a cash prize of US$30,000 and a Sony camera and lens set worth more than US$5,000. Reacting to the win, he said, “We wanted to tell a story about connecting lives that goes back to basics without gadgets and social media. It’s been a great experience for us to connect with the finalists and judges from the region through this video challenge. We thank Singtel, Telkomsel and the judges.”

The runner-up Sowan follows a man who travels to various places on his motorbike. He hears about recent agricultural issues and discovers the conflicts among farmers, middlemen and sellers. Mr Rendra, who also competed in and won the inaugural video challenge last year, received a cash prize of US$15,000 and Sony products worth more than US$4,000. “We appreciate this video challenge for bringing our vision to a bigger audience. We’re back again this year because it’s been a priceless experience for us,” he said.

The entries impressed the regional judging panel headed by award-winning Singapore filmmaker Mr Eric Khoo and comprising Mr Aaron Lea (Australia), Mr Joko Anwar (Indonesia), Mr Serge Abessolo (Gabon), Mr Quark Henares (the Philippines) and Mr Thitipong Kerdtongtawee (Thailand).

Mr Khoo, who returned as a judge for the second year, said, “We were wowed by the great improvement in the short videos this year. The winning works really spoke to us and we look forward to working with some these talented filmmakers.” He advised aspiring filmmakers to hone their craft by continuously filming and finding new ways to tell a story even with their smart phones.

“The 5-Min Video Challenge” is both a celebration of the filmmaking talent in Asia and a content push by the Group. Centred on the theme “Connecting Lives” this year, it attracted hundreds of video submissions from Australia, Gabon, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. The videos submitted spanned a range of genres from comedy, romance to drama and slice of life.

Two finalists from each of the six countries were chosen by local judges to compete in the Regional Finals. The Grand Winner and runner-up were then selected by the regional judging panel.

Mr Arthur Lang, Chief Executive Officer, International Group, Singtel, said, “We’re impressed by the different perspectives presented in the short videos that inspired, challenged and entertained us. Besides impressing the regional judging panel, Sowan and Chick Chick also captured the hearts of audiences who voted the videos as their favourites for the People’s Choice Awards. Mr Rendra received US$3,000 as the winner while Mr Anderson received US$2,000 as the runner-up.

Additionally, Chick Chick won the newly-created Sony’s Emerging Talent Award for outstanding technical skills and inspirational story-telling, and received prizes worth over US$5,000.

The grand winner, runner-up and finalists will have the opportunity to promote their videos on each Singtel Group member’s mobile and video platforms, allowing them to reach a 670-million strong audience across Asia, Australia, and Africa.

Transfer Funds in Minutes with GCash Fund Transfer

Just until recently, it was still true to say that doing fund transfers were simple in idea but relatively time-consuming to do and fulfill. Customers used to – and in most cases still are – falling in line in banks to do bank to bank or even interbank fund transfers, spending precious hours to do so. Now, this could all be history thanks to a new GCash feature: free fund transfers.

The nation’s leading mobile money service GCash have fully rolled out its fund transfers service, allowing customers to transfer funds from their GCash App to any of the over 30 banks supported nationwide. Thanks to this feature, fund transfer times have been virtually reduced to zero and paper wastes eliminated, as it will only take less than 3 minutes to complete a transfer transaction digitally.

Philippine fund transfer services are notorious for having exorbitant fees and antiquated paper processes, the former of which depends on a certain percentage of the money you’re transferring or a fixed fee, with a turnaround time depending on the volume of people per bank or money transfer service branch.

With GCash, all a customer needs are smartphone, funds in their GCash account, and the bank details of the account they’re transferring funds to. Once these are inputted, they can just sit tight and relax as the confirmation message arrives on their device. This service also allows for transfers anywhere in the Philippines where there is data connectivity present. The app also is open to use for all networks, be it Globe, Smart, Sun, Talk n’ Text, or TM.

Fund transfers are an integral part of the Philippine financial ecosystem. It’s widely used for sending money for personal purposes such as for family needs, bills payments, or even paying online sellers for products ordered on social media platforms. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas expects the nation to have at least 20% of its financial transactions to be made electronically by the year 2020. This includes banks and Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) which GCash is classified under.

“Fund transfers used to be a long, bogging process where customers will just wait for their turn on the cashier just to have money delivered onto another account. With GCash’s new feature, over 15 million customers can now transfers funds to more than 30 banks for free, and without taking hours,” said Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of Mynt. “This convenience, combined with all the services available in the GCash App, makes for a perfect all-in-one financial tool for all Filipinos. It also ties back to GCash’s mission of financial inclusion in the Philippines,” he added. Mynt is the operating company of GCash.

GCash, for its fund transfer service, utilizes the InstaPay platform initiated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. It is an “Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) service that allows customers to transfer funds almost instantly between accounts of participating BSP-supervised banks and non-bank e-money issuers in the Philippines.”

Getting a GCash account is easy. Just download the GCash App for free from the App Store or from Google Play and sign up for an account. Alternatively, you can look for @gcashofficial on Messenger and sign up.

To fund their GCash account, a user can visit over 16,000 GCash partner outlets nationwide, like 7-Eleven, SM Business Centers, Robinsons Business Centers, Puregold branches, and Villarica Pawnshop branches, and tell the cashier to cash-in to their GCash account. Cashing-in to a GCash account is free.

 

 

OPPO is now 2nd bestselling smartphone brand in PH

German-based market research organization GfK reported that OPPO is now the second bestselling smartphone brand in the ASEAN’s fastest growing mobile market, the Philippines.

GfK’s latest survey showed that OPPO increased its market share from 3.2 percent in July 2015 to 8.6 percent in July 2016, more than double its share from last year. The smartphone brand also rose from third spot in June 2016 at 8.5 percent, to second last July.

“Our increasing shares show how we are able to capture what Filipinos want in a mobile device,” said Stephen Cheng, OPPO’s Brand Marketing Manager. “We not only meet consumer demands for quality smartphones, but we also offer them at more affordable prices. This is an important factor that paved the way for our growth over the past year.”

OPPO attributed its rising popularity to its F1 series, whose selfie-enhancing features won over the Filipino’s fondness for taking pictures of themselves. The company introduced the F1 phone in February this year, followed by the F1 Plus in April.

Introduced only last August, the F1 series’ latest addition, the F1s, sold out three days after its launch in concept and dealer stores nationwide.

Because of the reception to the F1s, OPPO is optimistic that the company will eventually dominate the Philippine selfie market.

“OPPO will continue pursuing its growth in the market by indulging the Filipino fascination for taking selfies,” Cheng said.
