Transfer Funds in Minutes with GCash Fund Transfer

Just until recently, it was still true to say that doing fund transfers were simple in idea but relatively time-consuming to do and fulfill. Customers used to – and in most cases still are – falling in line in banks to do bank to bank or even interbank fund transfers, spending precious hours to do so. Now, this could all be history thanks to a new GCash feature: free fund transfers.

The nation’s leading mobile money service GCash have fully rolled out its fund transfers service, allowing customers to transfer funds from their GCash App to any of the over 30 banks supported nationwide. Thanks to this feature, fund transfer times have been virtually reduced to zero and paper wastes eliminated, as it will only take less than 3 minutes to complete a transfer transaction digitally.

Philippine fund transfer services are notorious for having exorbitant fees and antiquated paper processes, the former of which depends on a certain percentage of the money you’re transferring or a fixed fee, with a turnaround time depending on the volume of people per bank or money transfer service branch.

With GCash, all a customer needs are smartphone, funds in their GCash account, and the bank details of the account they’re transferring funds to. Once these are inputted, they can just sit tight and relax as the confirmation message arrives on their device. This service also allows for transfers anywhere in the Philippines where there is data connectivity present. The app also is open to use for all networks, be it Globe, Smart, Sun, Talk n’ Text, or TM.

Fund transfers are an integral part of the Philippine financial ecosystem. It’s widely used for sending money for personal purposes such as for family needs, bills payments, or even paying online sellers for products ordered on social media platforms. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas expects the nation to have at least 20% of its financial transactions to be made electronically by the year 2020. This includes banks and Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) which GCash is classified under.

“Fund transfers used to be a long, bogging process where customers will just wait for their turn on the cashier just to have money delivered onto another account. With GCash’s new feature, over 15 million customers can now transfers funds to more than 30 banks for free, and without taking hours,” said Anthony Thomas, President and CEO of Mynt. “This convenience, combined with all the services available in the GCash App, makes for a perfect all-in-one financial tool for all Filipinos. It also ties back to GCash’s mission of financial inclusion in the Philippines,” he added. Mynt is the operating company of GCash.

GCash, for its fund transfer service, utilizes the InstaPay platform initiated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. It is an “Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) service that allows customers to transfer funds almost instantly between accounts of participating BSP-supervised banks and non-bank e-money issuers in the Philippines.”

Getting a GCash account is easy. Just download the GCash App for free from the App Store or from Google Play and sign up for an account. Alternatively, you can look for @gcashofficial on Messenger and sign up.

To fund their GCash account, a user can visit over 16,000 GCash partner outlets nationwide, like 7-Eleven, SM Business Centers, Robinsons Business Centers, Puregold branches, and Villarica Pawnshop branches, and tell the cashier to cash-in to their GCash account. Cashing-in to a GCash account is free.

CPMS Celebrates 15th Founding Anniversary with Sinulog Blessing of New Building

Sinulog isn’t over just yet for the students and staff of Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS).

As they celebrate their 15th Founding Anniversary today (January 28), CPMS is also inaugurating their newest school building – the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Building. And what better way to kick off the festivities than doing it the Sinulog way?

“January 28, 2005 was when our SEC registration and Charter were signed. For 14 years, we did not really celebrate that. This is the first time in 15 years that we are celebrating our Foundation Day. Sto. Niño has been the source of everything. This is our thanksgiving,” said CPMS President Marivic Bathan.

After a Holy Mass in front of the new school building, a re-enactment of the arrival of Magellan, who gave the image of Sto. Niño as a gift to Queen Juana and Raja Humabon in 1521, until the victory of Lapu-Lapu was presented by the parents and teachers of CPMS.

The four-storey St. Therese of the Child Jesus Building, which features green and environment-friendly elements, bursts with the lively beat of the Sinulog as the students themselves performed the traditional dance in veneration of the Snr. Sto. Niño in each floor, while the priest blessed the building.

While they don’t usually commemorate their Founding Anniversary, the students and staff of CPMS always make sure to celebrate the Sinulog Festival every year through dances and performances. After all, culture and arts are some of the disciplines that CPMS instills on their students.

CPMS Consultant Rudy Aviles shared that this yearly tradition is usually done in the same week as the actual Sinulog Festival. But this year they decided to hold it on the 28th in order to celebrate the school’s other milestones.

“This year is important for us. Aside from the 15th Founding Anniversary and the new building, we are also having a new thrust and revisioning for CPMS. We want to instill in the school a nature-loving consciousness and connectedness,” he said.

Aviles explained that CPMS officials and staff have been brainstorming on the school’s focus into green living.

Bathan added that in CPMS, they create an environment that will nurture and cultivate children “to grow to be truly human.”

“We lead everyone back to nature and being natural. The human beings have the spirit that makes us one with nature and connects us to each other, making this world as one, just as our creator intended it to be at the Garden of Eden,” she said.

CPMS has been putting in place several activities and programs in their curriculum on how to embody the green lifestyle over the years – from exposing students to nature and the outdoors, eating healthy, and even solid waste management.

Part of its strengthened focus on nature and the environment is the inauguration of the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Building which is set to be a green building.

“We want to be anchored on caring of nature. If I take care of nature, nature will take care of me. It’s a symbiosis. It’s a communion between me and the environment,” Aviles explained.

CPMS tapped the services of GSG Architects Co. in the design and construction of the new building features sustainable and tropical design concepts.

Among these is a water recycling system wherein wastewater from washbasins are recycled and used to water the garden on each floor’s terrace garden and drip irrigation system. The building’s three main columns also have a plant climbing support structure to encourage vine growth and supply cool fresh oxygen to the hallways and classrooms.

“Two-meter wide balconies and three-meter wide hallways on each floor provide planting strips to bring in fresh air, provide shade, and puts nature in close proximity to the classrooms even if these are elevated from the ground,” explained Archt. Clive Aaron Guanzon, Principal Architect of GSG Architects Co.

The new green building broke ground last year and is set to be completed within 2020. It will host the preschool and elementary classrooms as well as administrative offices.

It is part of the CPMS 2025 masterplan wherein four new school buildings will be built by CPMS within three phases. By 2025, on its 25th year, CPMS foresees a population of 400 to 500 students from toddler to Senior High School.

More Filipinos Now Streaming HD Videos

By now, everyone is aware that internet speeds vary per country for various reasons.  Arguably, netizens in the Philippines have a love-hate relationship with their ISPs.  While this may be so, one thing is true across nations around the world: people love to be entertained.

With the Philippines tracking a regular speed of 5.5 Mbps on wired and 12.33 Mbps on mobile, Globe Telecom’s data traffic from major video streaming services including YouTube and Netflix accounted for 27% of total data traffic in mobile and broadband LTE at the end of September this year.

The significant contribution of video-streaming services in mobile and broadband LTE traffic reflects the company’s aggressive deployment of infrastructure and technologies to increase network capacities and address customers’ growing bandwidth requirement amid increasing popularity of on-demand video content.

Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Governance, Network Technical Group, emphasized that Globe is able to sufficiently provide a good quality of video experience for its customers despite current challenges in establishing telecommunication infrastructure that include cell sites. “The continuing deployment of LTE sites and fiber-optic cables for wider coverage and enhanced capacities is in anticipation that customer demand for bandwidth-intensive video materials such as those provided by Netflix and other video-streaming services will steadily increase moving forward,” Agustin said.

A YouTube video with a resolution of 1080 pixels could be streamed with an internet speed ranging between 3 Mbps and 6 Mbps (https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702?hl=en-GB). Also, Standard Definition (SD) video content requires less bandwidth especially in small screen devices like mobile phones.

Agustin emphasized, however, that increasing customer requirement for on-demand multi-media content necessitates a continuing build of the company’s network infrastructure such as cell sites and deployment of fiber-optic cables. For many years now, Globe has had to deal with permitting difficulties in establishing right-of-way and cell sites in many villages and subdivisions as many homeowners associations are too slow in addressing the company’s right-of-way applications, effectively tying the telecommunication provider’s hand in addressing customer demand for high-speed internet service.

To date, Globe has so far deployed more than 5,000 LTE sites nationwide, using the spectrum assets it acquired last year including frequencies on 700 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz for wider coverage and increased capacities. Majority of the company’s LTE sites were deployed in Metro Manila and other high-density areas, where many of the country’s smartphone users are located. Mobile data traffic in January to September this year surged 73% to 430 petabytes from 249 PB a year earlier as smartphone penetration increased to 70% at the end of third quarter.
